Paraa Safari Lodge is a luxury facility along the bank of River Nile in Murchison Falls National Park. It is the largest conservation area in Uganda located in the northern part of the country hosting the magnificent Murchison Falls. The lodge was established in 1954 with a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure along the Victoria Nile. It was aimed at holiday makers, leisure travelers, family group or friends.

Paraa Safari Lodge

The safari lodge is a typical mid-20th century construct located in the park and is an old fashioned facility dating back in time with rooms located on a two story block overlooking the pool and ahead of the Nile on its way to Lake Albert. The cottages offer best comfort for those seeking for something different and exclusive. The 54 rooms are divided into standard rooms, queen’s cottage and suites, the standard rooms feature a double or twin room, en-suite bathroom, private balcony and sitting room with polished stone floor and large balcony doors. The queen’s cottage is far away from the main block with two bedrooms, dining room and would be perfect for a family.

The main lodge consists of the bar, lounge, pool, gift shop, gardens, reception with the strongest WiFi and the restaurant. They give excellent food and serve both local and international cuisines. The Captain’s Restaurant table is located in the upper floor in what was the lodges former hall before it was renovated.

One can choose to sit either inside or outside depending on what they like there are traditional dancers and performances at the lodge on Saturdays that make it a memorable time of stay while on safari to Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge is part of the Madvani group of companies just like Chobe Safari Lodge, Mweya Safari Lodge, Silver Back Lodge, Aberdare Ranges, Masai Mara, among the facilities.

There are a number of activities one can participate in while at the safari lodge. These include, game drives to the northern bank of the park early morning game drives are possible in search of animals like lions, warthogs, elephants, giraffes, impala, kobs, oribi, Jackson Hartebeests, buffalos, among others, the park hosts birds of various species as well like the pelicans, horn bills, African fish eagle, the famous shoe bill. Boat cruise to the bottom of the falls takes you to explore the Nile and its features for example hippos and crocodiles.

Actually one can choose to hike to the top of the falls to see and experience the magnificent falls. Nature walks can be organized and chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest eco- reserve. It is well situated in that one can be able to see the animals even while at the lodge, especially warthogs and hippos.

The lodge is located in the northern part of the country about 5 hours’ drive form Kampala. Chatter flights can be organized to the park from Entebbe or Kajansi in Kampala.
