10 Days Rwanda Wildlife SafariDetailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival – Kigali International Airport

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver/guide who will brief you on the Safari Itinerary and then transfer you to a lodge already booked for you. Depending on your arrival time, you will be taken on a tour of Kigali City where you will be fascinated at how beautiful and clean the city is. Visit a number of cultural places as well as the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Dinner).

Day 2: Transfer to Parc National des Volcans.

Have an early morning breakfast and embark on a journey to Parc National des Volcans which is popular for Gorilla Trekking Tours in Rwanda. Reach Ruhengeri at the gate of Parc National des Volcans. The journey is full of beautiful sceneries, through the cultivated terraced hills of Kigezi and Rwanda. Reach your lodge in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the following day’s Gorilla Trekking adventure. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Parc National des Volcans.

You will have an early morning breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters for pre-trek briefing about tracking mountain gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla trekking is a demanding but rewarding experience. Ensure you bring with you enough water and packed lunch. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the primates in their natural habitat. Once you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed 1 hour to with them so endeavor to take many photos. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Visit Gisenyi Town – Explore Lake Kivu

After breakfast, leave Ruhengeri and proceed to Gisenyi, a pretty town located on the shores of beautiful Lake Kivu, the main water body of Rwanda. Relax on the beach as you bask in the African sun. Have lunch in Gisenyi and later check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park along Lake Kivu as you marvel at the scenic beauty of this land of a thousand hills. Make a stopover in Kibuye for lunch. Thereafter proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the evening for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 6: Tracking Primates in Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for briefing and then enter Nyungwe forest in search Chimpanzees or the numerous troops of Colobus Monkeys. Nyungwe Forest National Park is a vast, uncontaminated tropical rain forest of over 1000 sq km in size and you will be amazed by such intense, green mountain vegetation. Ensure you carry with you packed lunch and water. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali – Rwanda Cultural Tour

After breakfast you will drive to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Make a stopover in Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. Have lunch in Butare, where it is possible to find the best Rwandan, original handicraft which you cannot find in other countries of Africa. Butare hosts the biggest university and the national cultural museum. Make a stopover in Nyanza for a tour of the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda, the Mwami. Proceed to Kigali and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 8: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park located along the Tanzanian border of Rwanda. Arrive at the lodge in time for the evening game drive. This park is famous for its herds of game animals including Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topi, giraffes, impalas and over 425 species of birds including the shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis goliath heron. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 9: Game Drive in Akagera National Park.

You will have an early morning game drive along the trials of Akagera. As an optional activity, you can board the boat for exploring the water of the Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile and birds. In the afternoon drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 10: Kigali City Tour – Departure

Have an early morning breakfast and go on a tour of Kigali City, Rwanda’s Capital City. Visit various spots in the city and thereafter transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
